What is a Pedorthist?

Canadian Certified Pedorthist are health care specialists focusing on foot orthotics and orthopaedic footwear. By doing a gait analysis and assessment of the lower limb anatomy and joints, we can determine the cause of possible pains or disorders. Using a 3D cast of both feet, we fabricate 100% custom orthotics for each patient to help to alleviate pain, abnormalities and debilitating conditions of the lower limbs and feet. 

In 2019, Karen Morphet set out to follow her dream, and bring foot health to Manitoulin Island. With a long drive to Sudbury, and no consistent provider of custom foot orthotics and orthopedic footwear, the need to help the community of Manitoulin was in need closer to home. 

Karen is a Canadian certified pedorthist, after completing her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Brock University in St. Catharines. The Pedorthic program at the University of Western Ontario allowed her to complete placements at multiple clinics throughout Ontario to learn from a diverse group of pedorthists, chiropodists and chiropractors. 

Karen chose the pedorthic profession as she enjoys the challenge and rewards of being able to help ease a patients' pain while incorporating the craftsmanship required to custom fabricate each orthotic device.
